The Hotes Foundation

The Hotes Foundation provides emergency relief by providing shelter, food and man power to disaster and poverty-stricken areas around the world, including: Pakistan, Peru, Mexico, Bangladesh, Philippines, Taiwan, Haiti, Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia. Our focus is simple: more volunteers with us, serving the poorest of the poor - changing “giving” to “going.”

Amazig Leathers

Amazig Leathers is a for-profit company that has grown out a call for ethical businesses which engage in social entrepreneurship. US offices, located in Knoxville, TN, ship the leather goods imported directly from the North African artisans who craft them. Brandi Jordan, the CEO and founder of Amazig Leathers, is currently finishing her master’s degree in International Development. She has worked in Southeast Asia, Central Africa, and North Africa, where she has learned to respect the legitimacy of craftsmen the world over.

Roots Interns

 Our mission is to create the perfect balance between meaningful work and valuable learning. That’s why we offer nonprofit internships in Africa for people around the world; internships that support important social and conservation initiatives happening at a grassroots level. And we offer a wide range of NGO internships in Africa so that we can offer the perfect experience for students of different areas

FREDAfrica

Foundation for Relief and Development of Africa (FREDAfrica) is a community based charity working in rural areas of Uganda. FREDAfrica provides education to orphans and vulnerable children, with have mentorship programs for youths and activities aimed at empowering them economically and socially. The charity also provides educational services on public health plus village mobile clinics for free to many needy people in rural areas of Uganda.

GOOD Travel

GOOD Travel inspires travelers and tourism businesses to transform one of the world’s largest industries into a force for GOOD. We believe in giving back to the places we visit, connecting with the communities we meet, and learning from the journey. We're currently focused on two key projects: An online GOOD business directory and GOOD Travel tours.

Humanity Unified is a socially conscious lifestyle brand for the Changemaker, Traveler and Dreamer. Our model is simple, people before profits. We work with local organizations to help fun projects that empower women and children in developing nations through education, sustainable agriculture programs and economic development. 

OneDay Social Volunteering

OneDay Social Volunteering is an international social organization that provides a platform for young adults to volunteer in a wide range of activities in the most flexible, accessible and enjoyable way, while increasing their social and professional networks with people their own age.

Habitat for Humanity

We are a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. We build with people in need regardless of race or religion. We welcome volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds.

Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC)

The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City is a nonprofit research and strategy organization and the leading authority on U.S. inner city economies and the businesses that thrive there. Founded in 1994 by Harvard Business School Professor Michael Porter, ICIC strengthens inner city economies by providing businesses, governments and investors with the most comprehensive and actionable information in the field about urban market opportunities.

Project 10

Project 10 works to promote the personal, social, sexual and mental well being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, two-spirit, intersexed and questioning youth and adults 14-25.

Stockbox Grocers

Stockbox’s mission is to bring food back into communities – like an old-fashioned corner store, but with a modern twist. Our small format stores are placed throughout urban areas, to offer fresh produce, meal solutions, and grocery staples. We place mainstream staples, alongside organic products, and source produce from local farms when possible. Grab-and-go options in meals and snacks make it easy to shop, with selection changing frequently so there’s always something new to explore. We offer loyalty programs, recipes, and specials. Pricing is affordable – competitive with local grocery stores and below convenience stores. 

chashama

chashama supports communities by transforming temporarily vacant properties into spaces where artists can flourish. By recycling and repurposing buildings in transition, we invest in neighborhoods, foster local talent, and sustain a vast range of creativity, commerce and culture. 

Make It Right

More than 4,000 homes in New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Two years later, when actor Brad Pitt toured the city, the neighborhood was still deserted and devastated. Pitt promised the families he met there, that he would help make it right. He founded Make It Right to build 150 affordable, green storm resistant homes for families living in the Lower 9th Ward when the storm hit.

Water4 transforms communities by putting a sustainable solution in the hands of local men and women. We train them to drill their own water wells and install their own hand pumps. As a result, these trained teams have not only a vocation and a means to provide for themselves and their families, but also the tools and skills to bring access to safe drinking water to their own communities.
